Description

►Yes.. yes.. another npc. I've had this one in the works for .. quite a while OTL but I always came up confused as to exactly how I wanted him to be. I knew I wanted pink hair (that being the first factor of even making another *shot*.. always wanted to paint the colors.. ) and then I figured... I have no Arean npc.. I can't be -that- discriminatory forever *weeps* or can I
So.. My quest to make the sparkliest mo fo began. In the end it was what got me -working- and out of the worst of art block. Over all I think he's kinda sloppy.. especially the clothes. BUT the face... I am stpidly happy with that and the hair. And considering those two things have been an annoyance for me this entire past year.. I'm happy. Happy with his prettyful facey, silky hairs and mary sueness all over the place. ◄

Name: Cayleigh Laodigh (Kay-lay Lao-die)
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Height: 6'1''
Species: Half White-herd Unicorn, Half Unseelie (Dark) fairy
Job : Rune instructor and romance novelist
Faction: Ares

Fitting theme music: Song of the Sylph, Stone Fire, Rolanberry Fields, Purification Spring
Voice clip sample: [link] (though just for tone... he actually speaks with an accent (Irish-ish ))
Scent: Darkly ethereal Lavender and jasmine, a touch of sparkling honeysuckle, and warm blush of honey and vanilla.
Abilities:
  • Rune Magic: (of the darker nature). As a mostly Arcane spell type, runes have various abilities and uses. The ones most used by Cay are along the lines of; Elemental imbuement (usually used on weapons, but can be used for other things depending on the item its placed on i.e: fire rune on something flammable will start a fire. Poison on living flesh will cause erosion, etc (any element cast with the retention then release runes will cause an explosion of that element) and Concealment skills. He also developed a rune spell in conjunction with a special type of crystal that once every two weeks, allows him to teleport from anywhere to the crystal which is always kept in his apartment in Necropolis.
  • Glyfs: These are almost summon like constructs. They -are- the shape of their runes, and once completed become somewhat three-dimensional and capable of interdependent movement. They do as Cay orders, from attacking to cleaning his apartment or grocery shopping. The longer Cay has had them, the more personality they take on (like any good written character). His first and most 'real' seeming is S'ahn which is the one he usually keeps around the most. In all he has fifteen of various sizes and capabilities.
  • Does have wings.. but he hasn't even -seen- them since he was a very small child, let alone used them.
  • He also does technically have access to Unicorn form and healing abilities, but without the horn they mind as well not exist. And he would rather rip the skin off his very forehead than to let it grow.
  • Naturally high agility and reflexes.
  • As an inherited racial trait, most females of any race tend to find him inexplicably of interest (this comes from the unicorn blood. However he's noticed that where as that aspect of himself attracts younger innocents like a new doll in the toy shop window, his dark fey blood causes a slightly different infatuation in older ages..)

Weapons:
Rapier and dagger. Used in an elegant dual wielding style. He's not particularly good with them, but with the help of his runes he can make up for lack of skill.

History:
  • The Queen of the Unseelie Dark Fea wasn't sure if her child was her husband's or the 'young' unicorn she had given into on a passionate whim. So Cay was born into the Court hoping that he would come out with dark hair and green eyes... However it was instantly apparent that wasn't the case and the baby boy was quickly passed off to a brand new serving girl to pretend he was her own, the birth being announced as failed and the child's life lost.
Cay had no delusions growing up that his mother was anyone -but- the cold and stern fairy queen. The Queen was very matter of fact and left nothing to chance. In fact she told him herself when he was three. Immediately after, issuing the firm vow that if he were to tell anyone or try to use that against her in anyway she would end him in a blink.
To keep suspicions down, he was made to file his horn for as long as he could remember and was forbidden to use his wings as the shape would be a clear indicator of his lineage. Despite the efforts to seem 'normal' in the court, it was still obvious he was at least half outsider which caused him to not be treated well at any point by the high brow society that was the Court.

  • When he was about four the woman who had been forced into being his caretaker left the Court suddenly, abandoning her duties as well as Cay.
Luckily his father had visited a few times before and where as his mother was more tight liped than steel, his father was quite happy to claim the cute pink haired little boy as his own. So when the time came, Cay easily left with the youthful and caring Unicorn, moving to Orseon where the White Herd lived.
However he was not welcomed there either. Where as Orseon was technically Arean, the unicorns despised all dark things and Cay's half unseelie heritage made them more than weary while his need for blood only sealed the deal. He was forced to live on the edge of the Herd's glade and always kept separate. If he was caught being too close, the Stallion would make -sure- to punish him enough that it didn't happen for a good long while again. As he wasn't allowed to play with the others or be part of the herd in general at all, he quickly took up reading and writing as a past time to fill the void in his life.

  • Around the age of fourteen, Cay left for the mainland to fend for himself as that was really all he had been doing anyways. He still found that he was better off hiding both sides of himself. The Unseelie because revealing it would spell his end, and the Unicorn because with the lands still being sealed showing any sort of weakness would get you turned into food sooner rather than later.

  • At fifteen he started learning rune magic. Or .. magic by way of writing. Soon he was good enough to be a teacher himself and used that as his main source of income while writing and publishing books on the side (something that was supported by his father who strongly wished for his son to follow his dreams and find happiness *insert unicorn sparkles* ).

  • When Ares and Caelius returned to Zion, Cay set out to do his best to find a new and safer place for the herd to settle. Even though he would not be acknowledged as family by any of the others, his Father means a great to deal to him. and with the war, the island was in one of the worst spots being in the cross fire of all -three- nations. His fears were pushed even further when Caelius took over the island.. which would actually have been a good thing for them considering they were not exactly 'Arean' material to begin with, but it was still war and could be taken back over by Ares or even Earthra at any point.
However.. even if he relocated the herd, he would not follow. What Ares fought for was what he needed to survive. Even if he had to hide most of what he was, he would still be able to -live- at least. (He also does not trust Earthrans, seeing them as country bumpkins that would have their own set of superstitious prejudices, especially when it came to his blood thirst)

  • Now, he struggles to better his focus of romantic novels while traveling Ares and even a bit of Caelius and Earthra to give private lessons to anyone willing to pay. He often visits his father in Orseon and even once in a while Lumes Grove where the Unseelie Court is located. Where as it is mainly to utilize their hoard of books and magic scrolls, he also sees it as an opportunity to show to his mother that he is indeed behaving and not plotting something treacherous against her crown, thus buying himself a bit more unwatched freedom when he -was- out and about.

Personality:
  • A good enough person, though rather selfish. Another byproduct of having to fend for yourself.

•Has overly romanticized ideals about love thanks to the fact that all he knows about it is what he has read... (or even friends for that matter). Though uses romance as the predominant theme of his current books.. which tends to lead them to be rather.. bad. (Any other genre/style he is pro level however.)

•Doesn't like kids -at all-. If he's not careful around them, before he knows it his tail could end up braided and his hair full of flowers.

•Despite his love of romance, he finds himself absolutely unable to connect with anyone. Then again its difficult when most women he talks to look at him as if they want to take him home and keep him on their bed like a fluffy plush. So he's rather weary of women, and if they don't treat him overly nice then he just tends to think badly of them anyways.

Likes: Temperate shade, extra vanilla in his milk tea, having people honestly appreciate his writing.
Dislikes: Direct sunlight or perfect darkness, heights, people that, meat of any sort, cloves, his tail getting dirty.
Additional Information/Random Facts:
  • Main reason his books are even -published- in the first place is because of his allure.. his publisher is female and somehow finds his work compelling, while his entire reader demographic is female too and usually only start reading after they had met him. Needless to say he has a long climb up the professional ladder ahead of him.
  • When writing a new book it usually doesn't take him very long because he barricades himself into his tiny apartment and doesn't leave until its done (using is Glyfs to bring him food etc)
  • Has a naturally good singing voice but he never really does (too embarrassed)
  • Completely ambidextrous and can control all ten fingers to the extent that he can write three runes with all five fingers in the space of time it would take to write one with only one finger as if like a pencil.
  • Absolutely obsessive about keeping his bangs down over his forehead as an obvious mark where his horn grows is present. Likewise he can slip into a near psychotic and frantic state if he is caught somewhere without a way to file down the ever growing stump. (he might not be able to grow facial hair, but the horn requires daily filing and if left unattended can be fully present in a week or so.)

People of Significance:
  • Nao: Father. Unicorn. Lives with the White-herd in the forests of Orseon. At 5'5'' in his human form, he looks younger than his son. As naive and fun loving as most unicorns, he come across as a child almost. Where as he is very loving to his son, he can't spend much time with him as the herd does not accept the dark half breed. He does hope that Cay will find love and happiness and pursue his dreams though.
  • Oriane: Mother. Unseelie Fey. The exact opposite of Cay's father, she is tall, intimidating and cold. She is Queen of the Unseelie Court in Lumes Grove. Having developed a keen sense of how to gain and maintain her power, something she apparently holds even more precious than family or love, she is more than cruel if ever happening upon her son.

►And just because I know I've been a bit harsh in the past on charas that have the 'discrimination because they have ears/tail/wings/for some random reason were thought to be different' .. Here is what he would look like if he were fully himself 'x'
[link] ... I would like to think that would actually be received harshly on the Arean side ( does sparkle an awful lot ;u; ).◄
